Snow condition
It has snowed through here for the last two days. Yesterday it was still blowing with light winds of 160 km/h. The lifts were therefore closed all day. But it wasn't much fun up there either. The situation was different today. Still windy and temperatures just below freezing. But the snow was waist-deep in places. My skis with a center width of 88 were definitely two sizes too narrow today, deep snow all the way down into the valley.
Snow quality
In the open terrain between 1900 and 2300 m above sea level, there was a lot and I mean A LOT of drift snow, which was quite dense due to the wind pressure. But still easy to ski. Very loose in areas where the wind calmed down. Unfortunately not enough for a 5th star as the temperatures were a tick too warm.
Risks
Massive wind loads everywhere where the wind could act. We only entered these areas due to the fact that we had been on site for 10 days and were able to observe every day what was being dumped and how much. We got through the day without getting loose. Then more relaxed in the forest, but even there you could feel the snow cover cracking as it was coming down. Definitely not a location for naive, just go for it.
Overall impression
Totally disgusting....definitely the best day of the season so far.
