Snow condition
Unfortunately, the snow conditions are still below average. Below the tree line, the snow cover is very homogeneous with approx. 30-50 cm. Above approx. 1900m there was a lot of wind. The snow cover varies accordingly in exposed places from a little to a lot. Hardly any descents are possible without stone contact. Descents down to the valley are possible due to the contrasting snow conditions (valley ok / mountain below average).
Snow quality
In general, there is still a lot of soft snow. This is already well settled throughout. But there is also a wind cover and harsh cover. We were out and about in the Expo Südost. With a good choice of line, there are some nice turns.
Risks
The subsidence has had a positive impact on the situation. From approx. 2,400m, many large avalanche cracks can be seen. Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine whether it was a self-triggering or remote triggering. The old snow problem is omnipresent on the shaded side at this altitude. The warning level 3 is absolutely justified. Be especially critical of transitions from much to little snow.
Overall impression
Great evening program and a perfect tour in the current conditions (thanks to Steffen!). The weather was kind to us today. Nevertheless, we urgently need more snow.
