Snow report Grisons, 02/16/2020
Davos - Sentischhorn
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Still plenty of air. Between 2,000 and 2,300m still partly blown patches. Sufficient snow over large areas above that. On this tour in particular, the last few meters to the summit were slightly blown off, but still manageable
Snow quality
Due to the warming, the snow has now also become significantly heavier, wet and no longer nice to ski in northern exposures below 2,200m. Above - especially in areas protected from the sun - the snow is still good, albeit slightly settled (last snowfall was on Friday). It's still worth going out, going high and heading W to E.
Risks
Old snow will continue to be a problem. The displaced drifting snow is increasingly settling. The warming is adding slides in the southern expo. In the area around the Fluela Pass, however, I wasn't able to observe anything worth mentioning until 1 pm. Nevertheless, the temperatures, the sun and the orientation of the slope should be well under control during the course of the day!
Overall impression
Another 3 stars. It's getting heavier at the bottom, and it's also becoming increasingly settled at the top, but there's still plenty of snow from Friday that's fantastic to ski on.
