Snow report Grisons, 03/02/2017
Ski tour in St. Antönien to the 2703m high Rätschenhorn
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Not too bad in the lower part up to about 2000m, above that a lot of blowing, also quite independent of the current strong Föhn storm. Wind-exposed ridges are therefore often open, but the whole thing is still within limits. The situation was worse on the Flüela Pass. Just under 3 stars.
Snow quality
Above 2000m strongly blown and wind-pressed powder. A little better below that. With the strong storm, everything will change again on the tour.
Risks
A large spontaneous snow slab from extremely steep terrain has fallen here in the last few days. With the wind, very large loads.
Overall impression
A beautiful tour with a key section in the lower part, a large slope of around 35 degrees. In the upper part you can reach the summit quite easily.
