Snow condition

There is a lot of snow in the whole region. In the valley in Davos there is still well over 1m. Even in Küblis at 800m there is still a thick blanket of snow. Fantastic! There's sure to be a long spring of touring here.

Snow quality

Today, there was about 5 cm of fresh snow on a partially supporting snow cover. The higher the better. The summit slope was quite ok. Below 2000m, the slope became more and more difficult.

Risks

Hardly any avalanche danger. I was traveling alone. Even at 3000m there was only about 5-10cm of hard snow. There was also only a light NW wind at the summit.

20cm of fresh snow would immediately make the conditions perfect again. Or 2-3 days of good weather and you'd have top spring conditions. But now it's something in between.

I climbed up to the Pischahorn alone today from the Pischa valley station via the Mattjisch Tälli and skied straight back down. I was met by 2 other touring skiers. The old tracks were barely visible and didn't bother me.
