Deep Pow Skitour im Val Mustair
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
More than sufficient. In the valley (1600m) approx. 40cm, then quickly more.
Snow quality
Powder from top to bottom. Above approx. 2500m, sometimes heavily windblown and often capped. Still powdery in gullies and hollows.
Risks
A relatively tense 3. It is also fully justified. There is a floating snow foundation and on top of it (at 2600m, east-facing) there is about 60cm of well-set and bound powder. There are at least 2 weak layers, one of which is quite easy to release. So be careful!!!
Overall impression
It was very cold and quite windy from the SW on the ridges. Weather today was much better than forecast, with quite a lot of sun. Overall, the best ski tour of the season so far for me.
