Drei Jöcher Skitour in Graubünden, nach 20Jahren endlich gemacht

Snow condition
Today we were more oriented towards the Oberhalbstein than the Engadin. Start, at 2,200m, -12°C, moderate wind from the N, not a cloud in the sky. Snow conditions at this altitude, approx. 80cm pow, still! From 2,800m a lot of blowing and basically wind-capped, in all expos. Pow underneath, to enjoy. Below 2,200m, the snow quickly becomes less and there is no more base.
Snow quality
Above 2,800m, it's not really fun, but with an eye for the line, you can also step on the gas there. Below that, perfect pow, which allows a free choice of line down to 2,200m and a fairly relaxed descent.
Risks
More relaxed every day. Today for the whole area, "only" level 2 and no more old snow hazard patterns. That's why we skied something steeper today. 40° gullies are already in there ;-)
Overall impression
Today was "Grand Beau", below 2,800m, perfect pow everywhere, we did a tour I've been waiting 20 years for. Everything was included, 3 holes, a longer ascent on the ridge, a 3,000m traverse, brilliant views at the summit (from Monte Viso to the Ortler and from the Monterosa to the Ringelspitz). A great couloir and an ingenious descent. Therefore definitely 4 stars again!!!
