Snow condition
There were a few cm of fresh snow overnight. From the start, PP at 1,800m, to the summit and back, easily possible with skis and without stone contact, with a well-chosen line.
Snow quality
Rather modest. On our tour, almost all the expos were wind-capped, with fresh pow on top. On the sunny side, on the descent, already with a harsch cover. But this can (still) be broken when actively skiing downhill. Above 2,500m, everything exposed to the wind is blown and capped. Unfortunately, the cover does not always hold. However, great pow can be found in wind-protected shady areas.
Risks
The 3 from the SLF yesterday is OK. The snow shoots weren't quite as big on our tour, but they were easy to release. They slide off quite easily on the capped crust.
Overall impression
Another 3 stars for the weather, the exceptionally good snow conditions and the great tour. Many thanks and Merry Christmas to everyone who took the time to join me again this year in week 51.
