Snow condition
The surface is good on the north side from approx. 1300 m, below that it is rather scarce, especially in the forest. Some streams are still open and you run the risk of one or two wet boots. Fresh snow cover approx. 15 cm.
Snow quality
Yesterday the fresh snow was still unbound and very nice to ski, today above 1,800 m it was often wind-worked and, depending on the expo, the influence of the sun was already noticeable. One point deduction due to the low amount of fresh snow and noticeable subsoil.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Altitude: 1700 m – 2200 m
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
Avalanche level reduced to moderate today. In my opinion, this does not apply to terrain close to the ridge in the northern sector. Tonight and tomorrow strong avalanches with decent wind plumes.
Overall impression
Two beautiful old-school touring days with nice cold weather and some fresh snow. With an overnight stay in the winter room, not a soul far and wide on pre-rocker skis with frame bindings (had lost some material in the last few weeks).
