Snow report Gudauri, 02/17/2026

Two days in Gudauri with two very relaxed tours each. It's very warm and medium to large avalanches occur in all exposures. Mostly gliding snow avalanches but also spontaneous wet snow avalanches in steeper gullies. According to the local avalanche warning service, a 3 is announced but the frequency of avalanches is really considerable. We always stayed in very easy and safe terrain with slopes below 25 degrees. Due to the high temperatures and the sun, the snow was wet, but also partly blown off near the ridge and not really nice to ski. Nevertheless, the scenery was very spectacular and many potential lines were spotted, which hopefully can still be tackled with the upcoming colder temperatures and the forecast of fresh snow. Similar to the Alpine region, however, great caution and a conservative choice of tracks will probably be required.
