Snow condition
Unsurprisingly still miserable. However, in shady Karwendel cirques you can at least do a bit without artificial snow. Stones large and small keep popping up, but can usually be avoided if you ride carefully. We got through without any material damage. The forest road at the bottom went surprisingly well with only 50m of snow.
Snow quality
Here, too, it was surprisingly good for the time with little precipitation, but compared to the inaccessible south, it was of course not much fun. The good news: it wasn't icy, but grippy both on the ascent and descent. There were even a few soft turns, but they were mostly wind-pressed or scraped off. The firm snow meant that there was at least no danger of hitting rocks. 2 stars because natural snow!
Risks
Quasi non-existent. There would have been wind, but simply not enough flat snow for bigger boards.
Overall impression
I'm inclined to give it two stars because it was simply good to be on what felt like a "real" ski tour for a day. Objectively, however, it's only worth it if you have severe withdrawal symptoms. In an international comparison, that leaves just one measly star for the mountain feeling and blue skies.
