Variations of snow cover

The amount of new snow is difficult to estimate from the stau from Monday including settling. I would speculate with 20 cm + at the top. In general, the snow situation leaves something to be desired. In the hilly terrain, you have to expect stone contact on the edges at all times. In the upper area, exposed areas are quite blown off. In wind-protected terrain, the fresh snow hides stones and rocks perfectly.

Hard, pressed snow
Powder snow

In areas sheltered from the wind, nice settled powder (see video). The temperature rise today above 2000 m was not tragic on the north side, so the snow remained good until the afternoon.

Risks

Old snow problem

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

We were there after a fresh descent (which we hadn't seen before). This came out of steep, rocky terrain on the north side. There were numerous off-piste skiers on the slope who weren't panicking (which was good). As we didn't see the descent live, we didn't report a negative avalanche. What was exciting was that when we set the beacon to search, no device was detected, although there were numerous people in the terrain... From mid-morning onwards, numerous loose snow avalanches came down from steep, sunny terrain.

Worse

Fine freeride day without big crowds with very good snow and great weather.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
