Snow report Hochkönig, 01/05/2015

Very nice tour today on the Klingspitze (freeride tour of the week) Snow was great, we skipped the summit because the summit slope was bare!

Snow conditions are good, no stone contact on the descent. Only the last part of the ascent is completely blown away.

Fine, cold, partly somewhat pressed powder. 30-40 cm approx. Underneath a somewhat harder crust.

Risks

Very tense. We could see some avalanches that had already occurred in the steep terrain, some of which were quite large! -Many areas in all exposures are very heavily blown in, both near and far from the crest! On the forest road near the Deutingalm, for example, there are some 1.5m high accumulations of drift snow! On the northwest side, the summit slope is completely blown away and on the east side it is blown in meters high! -Photo

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
