Cruising meadows in the morning
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
The grassy mountains have received around 15 cm to 20 cm of fresh snow. Very locally a little more. The hilly terrain is still quite rough, which means that a lot of fresh snow is still needed. Streams and the like are still unpleasant traps, especially if you don't know the terrain well. Today we skied from 900 m to around 1900 m. The main part of the descent was in the eastern sector. There was up to 30 cm on the north side of the valley.
Snow quality
Quite good in the upper part and getting harder as the altitude drops. The fresh snow had already settled a little in the morning and was a little damp in the lower part due to the "higher" temperatures. From tomorrow there will probably be a light cover in the sunny terrain. It was still quite good today. Unfortunately, we hit the hard surface from time to time. Still enough for 3 stars.
Risks
Much more relaxed than yesterday. Thanks to the good sunny weather, you could see the danger spots quite well. There was a lot of drift snow near the ridge, which was hardly disturbable even in moderate terrain. Combs and ridges are still hard as a rock or free of snow. The first gliding snow avalanches have already started again from steep, sunny terrain. LWS 3 for >1500 m is suitable.
Overall impression
Another nice morning run in the best weather and less crowds than expected. Nevertheless, more fresh snow would be desirable.
