Snow report Hochkönig, 01/17/2017

Freeriding on the Aberg. I was very disappointed with the snow conditions. But apart from that it was a very successful day with good powder!

As I said, the snow conditions are poor. There is a maximum of 50-70 cm of snow in total, less towards the bottom. Stone contact can often be avoided. But the sharks are only lightly snowed in and usually exactly where you want to pull a spray... So put the handbrake on again.

15-30 cm of nicely settled powder. pleasant to ski. At higher altitudes on open slopes, it's sometimes wind-pressed and occasionally covered with an unpleasant layer of harsh snow.

Risks

The avalanche situation was quite relaxed. On the north side, you can find some brittle drift snow in steep, blown-in gullies, which tends to roll a little. But nothing was really dramatic there either.

Nice Bluebird day. We actually expected a lot more snow, as there was also a lot more in the surrounding areas (Saalbach, Dienten). Well, it was great anyway

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
