Snow condition
About 20 cm of fresh snow fell overnight. The old tracks from yesterday were already quite solidly covered. By midday there was quite heavy precipitation, which certainly added another 10 cm. On the south side, you can ski down to Mühlbach (860 m) without any problems. Really very good this season.
Snow quality
Beautiful fresh snow that was very easy to ski. There was hardly any wind on our downhill variants until midday. The terrain was a bit too flat today for this snow and the current amount of snow.
Risks
We deliberately chose flat forest and meadow terrain today. The Dientner Sattel and the Mandlwandstraße were already closed in the morning around 10 a.m. due to avalanche danger. By midday, we were able to hear a few avalanches, presumably from the Mandlwand area (not enough visibility available). From midday onwards, the wind picked up considerably and we could also clearly see and feel the snow plumes near the valley. By midday we were below 1800 m and could not perceive any dangers in the flat terrain.
Overall impression
Weather day with good snow. However, the possibilities were severely limited due to the avalanche situation and our playground was a little too flat for the fresh snow.
