Hochkönig situation report: Spring temperatures, chirping birds, search for firn, powder in shady corners

Overall impression
Snow condition
On the north side in the forest, the snow cover is quite solid. We were also out and about on the south side today and the descent up to around 1000 m was still possible without any problems. If the inversion weather situation continues, it could soon get tight on the south side. Everything that is more or less skiable (off-piste terrain as well as touring terrain) is more or less completely bombed.
Snow quality
In the untracked, sheltered north-facing forest you can still find beautiful powder (unfortunately only available for a few turns). In the south-facing forest, you'll find beautiful hard snow and in the open south-facing terrain a mixture of hard snow and firn. From time to time you'll also come across surface snow, which then rustles nicely. All in all, the conditions are quite mixed and change from turn to turn.
Risks
Quite relaxed again today during our outings. However, we were able to recognize some small sliding snow slides from steep, sunny terrain. In addition to the old snow problem, you should keep an eye out for these at the moment. In some places, there is a good layer of frost. This could form the next weak layer with the next snowfall.
Overall impression
Sun and some exercise. Fresh snow should come as a matter of urgency, because the possibilities are getting fewer every day and the quality of the snow is slowly leaving something to be desired.
