the southern cirques of the hochkönig open in the morning and are accessible from the parking lot. birgkar ascent to hochkönig was done(?)/attempted today. we stopped beforehand or went into a lateral saddle (SE). shortly after 9:00 it becomes soft on the south (east). hard in the gully, partly almost ice-covered, partly still compact powder below (->old snow problem not quite over yet?)
