Cold dream days

Snow condition
The snow conditions are ok for the season. But it should start to snow again. There is clearly the most snow in the First-Oberjoch area. There is significantly less snow to the west (e.g. Schilthorn). The valley runs are easy to ski, even if not all of them are open yet. A lot of artificial snow has also been produced throughout the area thanks to the cold. But there is also a compact blanket of snow on the valley floor.
Snow quality
The snow is no longer hip-deep, but thanks to the cold it is well preserved and beautiful to ride on. There were snow crystals on the surface of the snow, which really rustle when you ride. The south-facing slopes are also still good and there is no crust.
Risks
Well-set and consolidated snow cover. . safe conditions in all exposures.
Overall impression
These are absolute dream days for ski tours at the moment. The ski area (freeride) is now quite lost. But if you look for something or walk, you can still find beautiful slopes.
It is very cold. On the valley floor -10 degrees, even during the day. On the mountain it's -8 to -13 degrees during the day. Dress warmly!
Tours such as Simmelihorn, Reeti, Schwarzhorn, Faulhorn, Chüemattehubla were all heavily frequented.
Tour and freeride tips can be found in the Freeride Guide Jungfrau Region (www.freerideguide.ch)
