Snow report Jungfrau Region, 01/09/2016
Early morning ski tour from Grindelwald to the peaks above Waldspitz. The lower part was really ugly after the constant rain of the last few days, but it was just enough to set off from Grindelwald on skis. But I don't want to ski down there

Overall impression
Snow condition
Up to Bort 0-5cm, rainy and icy, then the fresh snow increases continuously. Good snow conditions from Waldspitz onwards. The hollows are well filled after the storms of the last few days. The base is compact. It has rained up to almost 2500m in between. And in the next week, the eagerly awaited powder will come down to the valley.
Snow quality
Slightly windy at the top, but very rideable. Increasingly damp towards 2000m.
Risks
The situation is tricky, extensive accumulations of drift snow have formed above 2000m in the last few days, which have been covered by fresh snow. And the next strong storm is already forecast for Monday, followed by several snow fronts.
Overall impression
The base above 2000m is now quite good. And next week, fresh snow is in the forecast for every day, with increasingly cooler temperatures. And then the backpack will be lighter again when you no longer have to carry a descent aid.Freeride Guide Jungfrau Regionwww.freerideguide.ch
