Piz Gloria - Patrouille Suisse
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Really good at the top. The entrance from Totenkopf is very comfortable. We also skied the descent to Stechelberg and reported on some bushwacking.
Snow quality
Good set cold and also packed blunt powder in the highest areas. Pure south-facing slopes are already baked and crusty. Further down there is a felty layer of frost.
Risks
There are mighty fish mouths in the area. A massive snowpack that just sinks in. The pure sunny slopes even above about 2400 are a bit more active and I would be careful here. Otherwise there is a drifting snow slide to be seen in the area.
Overall impression
Yes, if the Patrouille Suisse paints a heart in the sky in the morning, you'll also be spoiled for the rest of the day with lush descents in thick terrain and steep gullies. So we benefit from the crowds on the Lauberhorn descent and share the huge terrain with a few connoisseurs.
