Snow condition
It hasn't snowed for 4 weeks and it has been very warm all the time. There was also plenty of Saharan dust, which further accelerated the melting process. Thanks to the large amounts of snow in January, however, there is still plenty of snow, right down to the valley floor.
Snow quality
Powder snow is a thing of the past, but there are fantastic powder snow descents like in April. Depending on the exposure at the appropriate time of day. Above 2500m you can still find powder on the north side. Partly windswept, however.
Risks
The snow cover has stabilized well. The risk of wet snow avalanches is also still manageable at the moment. On the one hand, the snow cover freezes well during the night, on the other hand, the sun is still relatively flat.
Overall impression
Dreamy spring skiing days. Nevertheless, I'd prefer to see a few cold fronts heading towards the Alps again soon.
The alpine touring season is also in full swing, just like in April. Practically all tours are already being done (Wetterhorn, Lötschenlücke, Eiger W flank, etc.). At the same time, attractive tours are also possible at lower altitudes: Schwarzhorn, Reeti, Uf Spitzen, Hundshorn, Schwalmere, etc. all with descents down to the valley.
