There was again around 30 cm. Nevertheless, the snow cover is still below average and heavily marked by the many strong storms. The ridges and eastern slopes are almost bare, the western slopes and hollows are well filled. Below 1600m, the snow decreases quickly and it is almost green next to the piste, at least on the south-facing slopes.

The snow on Männlichen was a little windswept. (only ***). In the Tschuggen couloirs and in the forest, however, the snow was perfect, light, airy and fluffy. Just as it should be.

Risks

On the Männlichen in the W slopes, the slopes were triggered one after the other on the way in. However, the avalanche dimensions remained rather small. The layer of fresh snow was not well bonded to the base. This phenomenon could be observed on all exposed W-slopes. The explosions were also successful in most places and triggered smaller avalanches. It was much better on Tschuggen, probably because it is more sheltered from the wind there. But it was also considerable today.

Is winter coming after all? Today was at least a really nice and cold winter's day. The snow was still perfect on the N side in the evening, but on the S side you can feel that it's already March.
There were no people today. We practically only skied virgin slopes all morning. I wonder why? The weather was much better than forecast. The carnival vacations are over and the coronavirus is keeping travelers away.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
