Snow report Jungfrau Region, 11/07/2014
Already top conditions for the season, at least on the north side. Ski operations are still suspended. The Jungfrau Region will open next weekend, provided there is enough snow. However, the Wengernalpbahn ung Jungfraubahn runs according to schedule. So you must

Overall impression
Snow condition
Practically no base, you can still clearly see the unevenness of the ground. Nevertheless, the snow cover is sufficiently thick. I didn't touch a single stone on this stony and rocky descent. Of course, caution and good foresight are still required. Below 1700m, the layer and quality of the snow decreases. However, you can ski down to the valley (900m above sea level) on the north side without any problems and in relatively rideable conditions. The 4 stars are to be understood in relation to the season.
Snow quality
Above 1700m in the northern slopes the best powder. It certainly looks much worse on the south side.
Risks
no observations. It is worth mentioning that the last snowfall was practically windless. The ridges, which are usually snow-free and blown off all winter, are also well snowed in. During the strong foehn before, there was practically no snow that could have been blown away.
Overall impression
Quite acceptable as a start to the season and well above expectations. That's something that can serve as a good basis later on. I would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to our new book, which we published last week in Davos. The Freeride Guide Davos Klosters contains off-piste runs from the Parsenn, Jakobshorn, Pischa, Rinerhorn and Madrisa ski areas. Everything else and ordering options can be found on our website www.freerideguide.ch A book review by the Powderguide.com team will follow shortly.
