Snowshoe hike & fly tour on the Schwalmere. The descent by paraglider is still preferable to skis at the moment.

Snow condition
It started sooo well 3 weeks ago, best powder and lots of snow for the beginning of November. But where has it all gone? Last week's foehn days practically melted it away completely up to 1800m. For 3 days it was 16-18 degrees in Grindelwald. The foehn was also blowing like a hurricane. So I only needed to put on my snowshoes after the Lobhörner at about 2400m above sea level. Without snowshoes, however, it would hardly have been possible. On the summit slope there is about 1 m, partly hard packed. If it snows again, this should already be a good base. (Above approx. 2000m).
Snow quality
strongly blown, irregular, wind-pressed, hard, soft, deep, carrying, a bit of everything, but certainly not a nice powder.
Risks
low.
Overall impression
Beautiful lonely tour. It should soon be busier here again. Nevertheless, the cable car runs from Isenfluh to Sulwald. The post bus is also running. It will stay like this for the next 10 days, then hopefully there will be more snow soon! The Schwalmere is a beautiful ski tour that you can do from the Schilthorn. It has the shortest ascent and the longest descent. Further information in the Freeride Guide Jungfrau Region (www.freerideguide.ch)
