Snow report Jungfrau Region, 12/12/2014

Help!!! We urgently need snow! For once, I can't advertise the backcountry Jungfrau Region. At least the ski area is open and the Jungfrau Railways have managed to produce some quite acceptable pistes with a little artificial snow.

Where has all the snow gone that we had at the beginning of November? At that time, I had already skied White Hare 3 times without skinning a stone. Practically green on the south side up to 2700m. On the north side there is about 10-20cm on a zero base. If you look well ahead, short off-piste detours are possible in the upper part, but not at all worthwhile and only recommended with old skis. The downhill runs are closed, but I made it to the Holenstein middle station on the road without any problems, further is not recommended. Unfortunately it stays warm for at least another week, and without much precipitation.

Not too bad on the north side, but around the snow cannons there is a lot of broken snow. The pistes are hard (artificial snow, but not bad at all). Open lifts: Männlichen (only at weekends), Kl. Scheidegg: Eigernordwand, Arven, Lauberhorn, Wixi.

Risks

Where there is no snow, there can be no avalanche.

Winter is definitely coming. And if you want to be ready then, I recommend the Freeride Guide Jungfrau Region with 43 described freeride runs in the Jungfrau Region, including maps. Also a good gift idea for freeriders, possibly in a package with the new Freeride Guide Davos Klosters. Order at www.freerideguide.ch

Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
