Snow condition
It's worth mentioning that the Schilthorn has received significantly less snow than the eastern part of the Jungfrau Region (Grindelwald). After the fantastic freeride days of last week, I was very surprised today at how little snow there is on the Schilthorn. Totenkopf, for example, can't be skied yet. But where it's less rocky, the conditions are quite good. (e.g. Wasenegg).
Snow quality
Broken hardpack on the south side, or wet snow in the midday hours. Still the best powder on the north side, albeit nicely settled. Also in the summit area. Hardly any wind pressure.
Risks
According to the SLF, the entire northern sector was still very snowy today. This was due to a weak layer of old snow.
Overall impression
The upper part of the Schilthorn was open for the first time today and therefore still untracked. The Speedflyer allowed me to fly over the rocky sections. The riding sections were therefore
a little shorter than in high winter, but absolutely fantastic for riding.
Tomorrow, Grindelwald-First is also opening up, although everything is still untracked there, but due to the southern exposure, it is probably only recommended to a limited extent.
