Variations of snow cover

In the Kalkkögeln there is relatively average snow for the time of year. As it has never been warm enough or rained heavily throughout the winter, exposed slopes have unfortunately been blown clear after every snowfall.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Powder snow

On the north side there is still nice cold powder, but wind influence is noticeable on more exposed slopes. In other exposures, depending on the steepness, broken snow in the early morning.

Risks

South

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Below 2400m conditions are currently quite favorable, above that if you catch the wrong spots that you can't see, avalanches can still be triggered in old snow

Overall impression

Equal

Nice round in the Kalkkögeln and still found powder snow. Ascent track partly quite smooth, crampons damage not as splitboarder.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!

Thank you for your contribution to the PowderGuide project!
