Snow condition
The snow conditions on the Nockspitze are very below average. The comparison with last year is also frightening. Originally, I had planned to ski the Leintuch - but with the current snow conditions, this is not worthwhile. The NW, N and NE gullies should all be possible. However, some of the access routes are a little different than usual, as the eastern slopes are partly bare. As the snow cover is not frozen at night there either, the descent was too tricky for me due to the persistent old snow problem.
Snow quality
This morning there was swamp in the south and east, interspersed with patches of meadow and scree. In the north and west, slush. There could possibly be some powder hiding in extremely steep northern gullies. But that's too risky for me. I give it two stars because in other areas of the Kalkkögel you could certainly find some firn with the right timing. On the Nockspitze today, however, I rather enjoyed the ascent and the summit break in glorious weather. The descent less so.
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Due to the old snow problem, I would avoid the very steep gullies outside the southern sector (but of course, as always, you will find traces of people who see it differently). On the east side, the one or other firn line in the Kögeln could still be possible. You would have had to be very early today. At 11 o'clock it was already too late. But it may never have worn at all today.
Overall impression
The sheet on the Nockspitze was just a plan B today - and not a good one. Of course, the mountain is always worth it for the summit view. The joy of the descent was limited
