Exposition

Snow condition

Blown backs
Variations of snow cover

In the gravel cirques of the Kalkkögel, the snow cover is just sufficient, larger stones are still visible. Towards the top, however, there is often only a little snow on gravel.

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Breakable crust
Powder snow

On the north side above 2000m there is usually a minimal broken snow cover which didn't bother me as a splitboarder on the descent, no idea if this causes more problems for skiers. Under the cover mostly powder. The Scharten exits partly blown off hard.

Risks

No warning signs

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Many old wet loose snow avalanches, hardly relevant anymore due to the dry air.

Overall impression

2 von 5 Sterne
Equal

We did a short lap in the Kalkkögeln and found good snow. However, most of the slopes are full of old avalanches and don't offer a sensible descent

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
