Snow condition
Down in the forest to forget, forest paths have to be worn again and again, in the middle altitudes from 1500 partly and especially in hollows quite good, in the upper area blown off to a thin but load-bearing layer. Stone contact can be avoided from about 1600m. Wind-calmed north faces look good (see Flysurfers CR)
Snow quality
Partly really fluffy and in hollows without contact, but mostly hard old snow cover noticeable. Where there was wind, it was compacted.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Wind has shifted, but less than feared. It is definitely worth bearing in mind on steeper terrain.
Overall impression
Standard tour in the Karwendel today with better conditions than feared. Shady and north-facing is the place to be for the first concrete high days. Everywhere else will be over quickly. In view of the weather and the overall situation, just 3 stars for a free day with not even that many people.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
