Snow report Kaunertal, 03/10/2016
In the run-up to the Freeride Testival on the Kaunertal Glacier - still good powder, although already very rutted.

Snow condition
Visually good. After all, we are on the glacier in March. Also enough to descend further than the valley stations to the road into the valley. But even in the high alpine terrain, there are still a few stones. Some ridges are blown away and the little snow that remains has often melted.
Snow quality
Very good everywhere at the beginning. Approx. 20 cm of cold powder. Slightly wind-affected everywhere, but still great to ski. Despite the high alpine location, relatively little wind influence. A slight deterioration on the sunny side during the course of the day. There was hardly any difference between the altitudes (approx. 3000 - 2100 m).
Risks
According to LLB level 3: As already mentioned, there was some wind everywhere, but very few wind signs. A lot of variations were skied throughout the day. Later also very steep gullies. No fresh avalanches were observed. Later in the afternoon, the first wet loose snow avalanches could be seen.
Overall impression
Great day with good snow and despite around 30 testers at the ski test, many variants were still skiable in good snow. Almost surprisingly much 3 days after the last snowfall.
