Snow condition
The snow conditions are good for the end of May on the Kaunertal Glacier, the crevasse zones above 3000m are better snowed in than they have been all winter. Not much snow left below the glacier in exposures other than north.
Snow quality
Everything from hard to soft snow, depending on the time of day, exposure and steepness. Due to the dry air, there was a good covering of hard snow - in the north face even slightly damp powder in places
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Watch out for wet avalanches during the course of the day - tours only make sense when the air is really dry.
Overall impression
We made the most of what were probably the last good days in Tyrol before the warm, humid air brought rain up to the highest peaks. Thanks to the high starting point, you didn't have to carry your skis and you didn't have to start your tour at 2 am.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
