Snow condition

Just about average for the time of year, especially considering the weak last few years. At the beginning of June, of course, these are no longer huge amounts of snow, outside the glaciers you have to look very carefully, but above 2700 m there is still something going on everywhere, but you definitely have to start worrying about the crevasses, because there is no longer meters of snow everywhere, even on the ice.

Snow quality

In principle, below around 3000m (depending on exposure) summer firn, above that still skier's firn, but there were thunderstorms at the weekend in the afternoon, during each of which 1-2cm of sleet or fresh snow accumulated. As a result, not only was the cooling somewhat limited, which sometimes led to broken snow, but the snow was also very sticky on the surface quite early in the day.

Relatively relaxed, but above 3000m you still have to watch out for wet snow avalanches, especially after fresh snowfall.

Overall impression

Acceptable for the beginning of June, it wasn't gigantic now, especially due to the snow quality. In my opinion, it's still worth it for about 2 weeks, although you have to watch out for crevasses.
