Last day of October, snow conditions according to the season. Off-piste skiing not really worthwhile in my opinion. Where there is no glacier, there are lots of rocks. Where there is a glacier, there are lots of crevasses. The ice walls in the area (Weisseespitze, Weisskugel, Hintere Schwärze) are all bare in places, Weisseespitze only at the top, the other two almost completely.
Snow quality
The more exposed, the more wind-affected. The snow surface is often rough and uneven due to the wind. Variable quality and hardness of the wind cover. In more sheltered locations vmtl still quite ok, but we weren't there.
Risks
We were only on the very flat glacier, where crevasses are a much bigger problem. On excursions into rocky freeride variants, pay particular attention to fresh drift snow.
Overall impression
Nice (working) day in the sun with a great panoramic view. Can't complain.
