Snow report Kitzbühel Alps, 01/20/2017
Skitour Gerstinger Joch (2035 m) ab Oberlandhütte
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Quite good on the tour (east and north-east slopes). Had no ground contact on the descent, even in light forest belts. The Großer Tanzkogel was heavily blown free.
Snow quality
Much better than yesterday in the neighboring valley in a similar exposure. Over 1500m excellent, set powder with approx. 20cm depth. Great for playing and full throttle skiing Below that, still good to ski, but a little heavier and occasionally a light cap.
Risks
There was already a superficial slide on a 35 degree steep mini north-facing slope. Other than that, we didn't make any relevant observations today.
Overall impression
Super day! Ascent over long distances in a T-shirt and great snow and terrain to play in on the descent
