Snow condition
After the positive impressions of last week, we were immediately surprised at how little foundation there is in the Langen Grund. There was constant contact with the enemy from top to bottom. Some of the Sharks were buried in unrecognizable powder. The handbrake was clearly applied again. With caution, however, it is also possible to ski down through the forest.
Snow quality
Partly unpleasant mix of creme brulee (south) and wind-compressed cover (wherever the wind could get in during the last week - mostly south, but also north). In between, there were still a few turns to be made in nice, somewhat settled powder with a clever choice of route. Unfortunately, no comparison to the Niedere Tauern last week.
Risks
We actually wanted to do the Torhelm at the end of the valley, but decided against the steep northern slope due to the snow plumes (south to north) and the old snow problem. A few snow slabs were clearly visible. Otherwise a safe day in moderately steep terrain. Up to about 1700m, really big surface rime has formed in all expos.
Overall impression
Despite the adjusted destination, it was a beautiful day with bombastic weather. Due to the wind it wasn't too warm even in the sun, unfortunately it continued to rage (see pictures).
