The top snow quality was destroyed by the higher temperatures

Snow condition
Today there was around 15 cm of fresh snow, which fell at much higher temperatures. The snow conditions are very good for the end of January. You can get down into the valley quite easily everywhere.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, the higher temperatures meant it wasn't as good. Where the wind was able to attack, there was very dull, compact drift snow and as the altitude dropped, the snow became heavier and heavier. On the eastern side, from around 1350 m you could feel a hard base under the fresh snow. In sheltered northern locations it was still quite nice, but even there the snow was a bit heavier.
Risks
Due to the LLB, we opted for conservative terrain. The combination of new and drift snow with the old snow cover was quite solid there. We didn't encounter any snow-covered surface rime during spot checks. In addition, the danger spots near and far from the ridge were quite easy to see at the tree line today, despite not optimal visibility. Pay close attention to drifting snow! The sliding snow activity is becoming more of an issue again due to the higher temperatures.
Overall impression
The day turned out as expected, only the weather could have been a little better.
