Snow condition
Apart from a few places (steep areas, forest sections), the snow conditions are very good. Occasionally you have to avoid a stone. No fresh snow. No carrying. Start from Griesner Alm with skis, ascent in the gully on foot. Only groomed to the start.
Snow quality
In the shady gully above the Pflaumhütte there was very good, dry and grippy old snow. In sunlit areas, the snow has softened on the surface during the day and with quite warm temperatures.
Risks
A single was announced for today, Friday. A moderate avalanche danger was suggested especially for shady gullies on the north side ABOVE 2200m. The fair weather window is theoretically not affected by this. We were able to confirm this so far. Cracks from older snow slabs can be seen in all the gullies of the cirque. So also partly in the Schönwetterfensterl. We ascended over safe old snow and below the Pflaumhütte there is a large avalanche cone. Loose snow with heavy snow.
Overall impression
Because of the really beautiful descent in the good weather window and the otherwise very favorable conditions, it was a really great tour today. With the coming bad weather, the avalanche situation will probably have to be reassessed.
