Firn im Wilden Kaiser: Nice
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Snow from PP. At low altitudes, stones or branches are slowly coming out to the south. It will be enough for the tour for a while longer.
Snow quality
Good firn as desired. Summit ridge not firned up, then 600m of fizzing firn, then on my route a bit slower firn, braking at the bottom.
Risks
Many old avalanches from the past from the rocky steep terrain of the Kaiser. Slush was not an issue on the descent in 11.00 at 2200m.
Overall impression
I've wanted to do the Kopfkraxn for a long time. Today about 15 like-minded people on the trail. Conditions were good, crampons unnecessary. The Wilder Kaiser is always a show in the truest sense of the word... I get the 4th star for that.
