Ski tour in the Glockner group (with a view of the Kitzsteinhorn): sun, powder snow and firn
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Our tour today was mainly in the west and north sectors. We started at around 1500 m and had to keep taking off our skis for the first 300 m. With skis you could walk reasonably from about 1800 m. There was enough snow above that. With the strong sunshine, the walk will get longer every day.
Snow quality
Up to approx. 2850 m there was beautiful powder snow. After that there was a gradual transition to firn. All in all, good downhill conditions.
Risks
Classic spring conditions, start early and finish early. Could not observe any anomalies.
Overall impression
This tour had been on our list for a long time. Today it finally worked out and the conditions were good.
