I can't remember when the snow conditions on the Kitzsteinhorn were as bad at the beginning of November as they were at the beginning of November 2015. The few remaining crevasses are very clearly visible and some of the pistes are much narrower than in previous years due to a lack of snow. Stones and ice can be found on the slopes. The pictures were taken at Langwiedboden at approx. 2000 m.

In the middle of the morning there was some very light drizzle (approx. +5 °C) and consequently the snow/artificial snow developed in the direction of Sulz.

Risks

You certainly won't have any fun off-piste at the moment and if you do want to go off-piste, the main danger comes from the crevices that are still there and from stones/rocks (you're sure to find them!).

The start of the season was certainly the highlight today. Drizzling rain and sometimes less than ideal visibility, narrower pistes and lots of people, tomorrow the ski boot will have to make way for the climbing boot/mountain boot again!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
