Snow condition

The snow conditions are now really OK for this time of year! At the moment you can only ski as far as the Alpincenter, but the slope to Langwied and the one at the Kristallbahn are already being prepared and should go into operation on the weekend. the possibilities in terms of terrain are very limited, but something is already possible! the glacier under the Gipfelbahn with a descent to the chairlift is quite possible with a little knowledge of the terrain! The crevasses are already closed! There were also the first POWturns at the Maurerschlepper, but it was pretty rocky at the bottom. But you shouldn't take the latest skis with you

Snow quality

The snow started to fall on Sunday. Monday morning I couldn't stop yodeling! Hip-deep, cold, blower pow, with no wind! Faceshots with every turn. Like it never really was last winter. Thanks to the cold temperatures, the snow was still very loose on Tuesday and with slightly better visibility even more was possible. It was still really good for skiing, but the snow was getting harder and harder.

A brief review: Last week it was mostly warm and partly sunny. Then the temperature plummeted on Sunday with very cold fresh snow. Warm subsoil + cold fresh snow = build-up transformation = weak visibility close to the ground... This could keep us busy for a while longer... Today the loose snow was then heavily displaced with the onset of the foehn. In a short time, some heavy drift snow packs formed which were also easy to disturb. The situation over the next few days will therefore be characterized by a tricky drift snow problem.

Overall impression

10 really great days on the Kitz, everything in terms of weather and the first powder turns of the season at the end!
