Snow report Kitzsteinhorn, 11/22/2014

Nice slope sliding on the Kitzsteinhorn. The variant on the Schmiedinger is already a mogul slope, but there are still plenty of rocks lurking everywhere.

Snow condition

For me, there's definitely not enough snow for this time of year. It only makes sense on the piste. You can go off-piste with increased risk, but it's not worth it.

Snow quality

The fresh snow this week was more of the wet variety and it has a cap almost everywhere. Above 2,800 it's only reasonably fine at the very top. Then it gets hard and icy straight away.

Risks

There is still very little snow and the old snow has settled well. Southern slopes are completely free of snow up to well over 2,000 m. Significant plus degrees at 2,000 m today.

Overall impression

1 von 5 Sterne

Due to the lack of snow, not all slopes are open and therefore very crowded. There are still lots of ski clubs on the glacier. The park seems to be in good shape. An enormous number of ski tourers were out and about in the area and the descent to Langwiedboden is still officially closed, but is frequently used.
