First the good news: something is finally happening in the off-piste area. However, the amount of snow is still far from sufficient. On Sat. (07.01.) approx. 40cm of snow fell in the area. Below 1800m probably without any major wind influence. Above that, everything is totally blown over and you can only ski sensibly in gullies and hollows. (08.01.) it rained lightly up to 2000m. On Mon. (09.01.) it was "grand beau", but with frosty temperatures (-20°C in the valley in the morning). Nevertheless, the sun has already thawed the snow on the southern and western slopes. Together with the rain from the previous day, this resulted in a rather unpleasant cover in places, especially on the south-facing slopes, and the further snowfall until yesterday (11.01.) afternoon was insignificant.

On the north side, above 2000m, in locations not influenced by the wind, best powder, with good skiing conditions (3 stars); all other exposures, below 2000m, rather modest (1-2 stars).

Risks

Vorarlberg has been reporting a constant level 3 above the tree line for a week now, with drifting snow and old snow problems, which I can confirm. The wind has transported a lot of snow and we've often heard quite loud booming noises, especially on the edges of slopes and in flat areas.since the current snowfall will take place with extremely high winds, nothing will change in principle ... so take care - live longer.

... it should snow again, preferably about 1m, without wind influence ... then it's fine in the Westallgäu and Bregenzerwald.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
