Overall impression
Snow condition
Quite good. Apart from the Ifen-Südrinne, everything we saw was possible in terms of snow conditions. Thanks to the foehn wind, you could see the snow getting much lighter, especially on the Ifen plateau and the south side of the Hählekopf.
Snow quality
Good to very good in all exposures on Monday. Approx. 10-15 cm of fresh snow, which lasted the whole day on the north side. On the south side it got wet during the course of the day, but was still very pleasant to ski; only the summit slope of the Grünhorn was not a pleasure due to old, frozen tracks; on Tuesday there was pretty much everything except pleasant snow, it was just too warm and too much wind. However, we weren't on a slope facing directly north, so maybe there was still powder to be found there.
Risks
Lots of drifting snow and quite large cornices. On Tuesday, the measuring station at Diedamskopf measured gusts of up to 120 km/h. Direct access to the Ochsenhofer Scharte, for example, is currently out of the question. On Monday, several loose snow slides were triggered in terrain with temperatures of just over 30 degrees. Serious terrain is therefore only to be enjoyed with caution at the moment.
Overall impression
Good base for the current and upcoming snowfalls, unfortunately not ideal for long tours due to the avalanche situation.
