Snow report Kleinwalsertal, 02/18/2017
Powderday, in the small Walsertal.

Snow condition
From PP, in Baad, up to the summit on skis. Unbuckle twice on the descent, once when crossing the Breitach, in the valley about 5cm of old snow. But then, very quickly increasing, fresh snow with up to 25cm. Free choice of route is possible for the most part. With sensible tracks, no stone contact. There is not much snow left in the forest. Most of the descent is no longer possible there.
Snow quality
In all sun-exposed areas, already capped and only very unpleasant to ride. On the north side, the powder is still flawless, but its days are over for the time being.
Risks
I can fully confirm level 2, below 2000m. Even on the ridges, no blown-in spots. However, there were probably already wet snow slides on sun-exposed slopes the day before yesterday, to an astonishing extent. I'm assuming that the downhill skiers were out a bit late here, and a large snow slab was observed in the uppermost area of Karlstor (north side). But that didn't necessarily impress the crowds there!
Overall impression
Four stars for the last powder day (for now), with sensational weather and an epic descent, but the rain tomorrow will change the situation fundamentally.
