Elfer South West flank already at 11 o'clock Swamp

Snow condition
Little snow on the flanks. You can no longer ski continuously. The approach through the forest is difficult and only possible in a few places on the descent. You actually have to walk everything from the slightly ascending Forstseg onwards, always alternating between snow and grass.
Snow quality
There was only a little firn here today, but mainly swamp snow. About 1 hour after the slope got sun, it was already soaked to the ground. Presumably the Sahara dust veil prevented it from radiating at night. We were actually there because we wanted to leave the summit at 12. We turned back much earlier because the snow was too wet.
Risks
Slippery snow mouths spread mainly over the upper hikers' slope. Lots of wet snow packs still lying on the grass and threatening to slide off. With the warm temperatures and the impeded freezing through, a southwest-facing ascent is not exactly favorable.
Overall impression
Thanks to CRler Skarch for the inspiration for a tour that has been on my list for a long time. Unfortunately, the conditions were no longer suitable for us and we turned back about 300 m below the summit. It's unbelievable how a few days can make the difference between good and no longer good. Congratulations Skarch for the summit victory. We may well go down in the history books as having the longest continuous grass descent on the Elfer.
