Snow condition
There is now a lot of snow again in Kleinwalsertal. Around 30cm of fresh snow has been added in the last two days. This means there is a solid layer everywhere. Enemy contact is only to be feared below 1400m, if at all.
Snow quality
There was very nice powder at the top. As I said, about 30cm. Unfortunately, the snow at the top was a bit wind-pressed, so it wasn't quite fluffy. In addition, the sun was shining brightly on the south-facing slopes from the afternoon onwards, so the snow was quite heavy and damp, and by late afternoon a light cap had unfortunately formed on these slopes.
Risks
As you can see in the pictures, the hurricane has left its mark. This means that the ridges are still pretty blown off and the drift snow is hanging on the nearby slopes, and I was generally on fairly flat terrain, which felt safe. But even on steeper slopes, I didn't see any loose snow avalanches or spontaneous slab avalanches.
Overall impression
All in all, it was a great day that made me want more real winter. Unfortunately, according to the weather forecast, it looks like the weather will be too warm again.
