Exposition
Snow condition
from pp, in baad, sufficient snow for ascent and descent, also in the corresponding forest passages.
Snow quality
some fresh snow overnight, up to 10cm in the summit area. but it's very heavy and sticky (or creamy, as it's called now!) and contains some sleet. before it started to snow, it probably rained up to about 1600m and softened the snow cover accordingly. so it's not constantly wearing in all expos and that leads to some surprises on the descent. above that, however, conditions are quite good.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
the little fresh snow is very well combined with the softened old snow cover. wind drifting is also not an issue because the creamy cardboard snow is so heavy that very little was/is drifted. today we were out and about in the area up to max. 2000m and couldn't trigger anything even in the very steep terrain. however, i did manage to do that on the descent, on a steep step in the forest. i wouldn't have expected it there and it was more of a wet snow slide.
Overall impression
today the weather was very changeable. sunny spells alternated with sleet showers. it was also quite cold above 1700m. wind was not a big issue (surprisingly) and well below freighting strength. but there was this diffuse visibility all day, which didn't allow any contours to be recognized and with the non-supporting base and the "working snow" it was rather below average. therefore actually "only" a zwier, but after there was another tick in the tour book today, for me def. the 3. forecast for tomorrow: it's definitely not going to look like picture 1 at 7.30am. after almost no sunshine today and it's going to stay cold tonight, it should be quite a bit better tomorrow.
